PDF - Pretty Darn Fast - NO - Portable Document Format!

PDF or Portable Document Format is fast becoming the document exchange choice of the Internet and e-mail. PDF allows the exchange of documents no matter what software or platform the documents are created in. PDF allows the preservation of the appearance of a document (all that pretty formatting and graphics you added). With the free software Adobe Acrobat Reader (available for download at http://www.adobe.com), .pdf files are viewable and printable by anyone. Another advantage of PDF is the file created is much smaller than the original which allows for faster transmission times.

In Bill Gates new book, Business@the Speed of Thought, he talks about how a business should create a "digital nervous system" to move business-critical information throughout a company and achieve a competitive advantage in today's marketplace. And although I don't always see eye-to-eye with Mr. Gates' tactics, I really believe this idea to be true as we move more into a digital age. Using today's technology allows us (employees, employers, customers, service providers) to communicate, collaborate, and make decisions quickly and efficiently. PDF is a way to share documents quickly and efficiently.

In order to create PDF documents you will need Adobe's Acrobat, which for an organization or for those wanting to create cross-platform documents (like me) it is a worthwhile investment. To read a PDF document you only need to download the free Acrobat Reader.
