Ad Tips

Not sure everyone will need this weeks tips, but maybe save it for that rainy day. The following tips are - as the title indicates - ad tips. These are only tips and you should consult with your ad representative of the paper, magazine, etc. that you will be advertising in. They are the experts and, usually, know what their readers will react to.

1. The headline should stress a benefit, nature of your service, your specialty, or offer free information.

2. Ask for action.

3. Offer free information (if you didn't in your headline.)

4. Show a small picture of brochure or booklet you offer.

5. Describe contents or special features of your free info.

6. Give your literature a title that implies value, i.e., resource guide, information kit.

7. Put heavy dashed or unusual border around your ad.

8. Offer free consultation, analysis, or recommendation.

9. Talk about the value and benefits of your free offer.

10. Test different small ads.

11. Put your name and company name. Invite the reader to contact you personally.

12. Use a testimonial from a satisfied client as a headline or in the copy.

13. Use your photo in the ad to personalize the message.

All in all your ads should say who you are, the services you offer, the type of clients you serve, what step you want the reader to take, and how to contact you.

Keep track of your ad responses so you can tell which ads are giving you your money's worth.
